श्री हनुमान चालीसा

॥ दोहा ॥

श्री गुरु चरन सरोज रज, निज मनु मुकुरु सुधारि।
बरनउं रघुबर विमल जसु, जो दायकु फल चारि॥

shrī guru charaṇ saroj raj, nij manu mukuru sudhāri
baraṇau raghubar bimal jasu, jo dāyaku phal chāri

“With the sacred dust of the lotus feet of my Guru, I purify the mirror of my mind. I recount the pure and radiant glory of Lord Ram, which bestows the four fruits of Human life:
Dharma (righteousness), Artha (prosperity), Kama (desires), and Moksha (liberation).”

बुद्धिहीन तनु जानिकै, सुमिरौं पवन-कुमार।
बल बुद्धि विद्या देहु मोहिं, हरहु कलेश बिकार॥

buddhihīn tanu jānike, sumiraũ pavan kumār
bal buddhi vidyā dehu mohĩ, harahu kalesh bikār

“Knowing myself to be devoid of wisdom, I meditate upon you, O Son of the Wind. Grant me strength, intellect, and knowledge, and remove my sorrows and imperfections.”

जय हनुमान ज्ञान गुण सागर।
जय कपीस तिहुँ लोक उजागर ।1।

jay hanumān jñān guṇ sāgar
jay kapīs tihũ lok ujāgar

“I bow to you, Lord Hanuman, the ocean of wisdom and virtues, whose divine presence enlightens all. Glories to you, the Lord of the Monkeys, whose brilliance and radiance illuminates all three realms, spreading glory and brilliance across the world.”

राम दूत अतुलित बल धामा।
अंजनि-पुत्र पवनसुत नामा ।2।

rām dūt atulit bal dhāmā
añjani putra pavanasut nāmā

“O divine messenger of Lord Ram, the abode of unparalleled strength, you are renowned as the son of Anjani, known by the name Pavanputra, the revered child of the Wind God, Pavan.”

महाबीर बिक्रम बजरंगी।
कुमति निवार सुमति के संगी ।3।

mahābīr bikram bajaraṅgi
kumati nivār sumati ke saṅgī

“O mighty and valiant Hanuman, possessing the indomitable strength of Thunderbolt (Vajra), you dispel the darkness of ignorance and evil thoughts and are the companion and guide of wisdom and virtue.”

कंचन बरन बिराज सुवेसा।
कानन कुण्डल कुंचित केसा ।4।

kañchan baran birāj subesā
kānan kuṇḍal kuñchit kesa

“Your radiant golden hue shines brightly, complemented by your divine attire, which enhances your majestic presence, you are adorned with beautiful earrings in your ears and your hair gracefully curly, add to your enchanting and powerful aura.”

हाथ बज्र औ ध्वजा बिराजै।
काँधे मूँज जनेऊ साजै ।5।

hāth bajra au dhvajā birājai
kāṅdhe mūnj jane-ū sājai

“With a mighty mace in one hand and a fluttering flag in the other, you stand as an embodiment of strength and valor. The sacred thread of Munja grass elegantly drapes over your shoulder, adding to your divine and majestic appearance.”

संकर सुवन केसरीनन्दन।
तेज प्रताप महा जग बंदन ।6।

saṅkar suvan kesarīnandan
tej pratāp mahā jag bandan

“I bow to you, Lord Hanuman, the spiritual son of Lord Shiva and the mighty son of Kesari, whose radiant power and glory are revered and worshipped by the entire world.”

बिद्यावान गुनी अति चातुर।
राम काज करिबे को आतुर ।7।

bidyāvān gunī ati chātur
rām kāj karibe ko ātur

“I bow to you, Lord Hanuman, the embodiment of wisdom, virtue, and intelligence, who is always eager and ready to serve Lord Ram and fulfil his divine tasks.”

प्रभु चरित्र सुनिबे को रसिया।
राम लखन सीता मन बसिया ।8।

prabhu charitra sunibe ko rasiyā
rām lakhan sītā man basiyā

“You delight in listening to the glorious tales of the Lord, and your heart is ever filled with the love and devotion of Lord Ram, Lakhan (Lakshman), and Ma Sita.”

सूक्ष्म रुप धरि सियहिं दिखावा।
बिकट रुप धरि लंक जरावा ।9।

sūkshm rūp dhari siyahĩ dikhāvā
bikaṭ rūp dhari laṇka jarāvā

“You took the form of a tiny being to reveal your divine presence to Sita, and in your mighty form, set Lanka ablaze, destroying the forces of evil and clearing the way for victory.”

भीम रुप धरि असुर संहारे।
रामचन्द्र के काज संवारे ।10।

bhīm rūp dhari asur saṅhāre
rāmachandra ke kāj saṅvāre

“You assumed the fierce form to destroy the demons and with your immense strength, you perfected the mission of Lord Ram, ensuring the success of His divine plan.”

लाय सजीवन लखन जियाये।
श्रीरघुबीर हरषि उर लाये ।11।

lāy sajīvan lakhan jiyāye
shrī raghubīr harashi ur lāye

“You are the one who brought the life-giving herb to revive Lakshman, and who filled Lord Ram’s heart with joy upon your success, bringing immense happiness to the divine.”

रघुपति कीन्ही बहुत बड़ाई।
तुम मम प्रिय भरतहि सम भाई ।12।

raghupati kīnhī bahut baṛā-ī
tum mam priya bharatahi sam bhā-ī

“Delighted with your immense assistance, Lord Ram showered you with great accolades, declaring that you are as beloved to him as his own brother, Bharat.”

सहस बदन तुम्हरो जस गावैं।
अस कहि श्रीपति कंठ लगावैं ।13।

sahas badan tumharo jas gāvaĩ
as kahi shrīpati kaṇṭh lagāvaĩ

“Sripati (Lord Vishnu, incarnated as Lord Ram), overwhelmed with your extraordinary deeds, drew you close to his heart, proclaiming that the glory of your name is so vast and radiant that it is worthy of being sung by a thousand voices, each praising your incomparable deeds and greatness.”

सनकादिक ब्रह्मादि मुनीसा।
नारद सारद सहित अहीसा ।14।

sanakādik brahmādi munīsā
nārad sārad sahit ahīsā

“The sages like Sanak, along with Lord Brahma, the great Saints, Narada, Ma Saraswati, and even the serpent king (Sheshnag), all revere and sing your glories in unison.”

जम कुबेर दिगपाल जहां ते।
कबि कोबिद कहि सके कहां ते ।15।

jam kuber digapāl jahāṅ te
kabi kobid kahi sake kahāṅ te

“Even Yam, Kuber, the guardians of the cosmos, along with poets and sages, find themselves incapable of fully capturing the boundless magnificence of your glory.”

तुम उपकार सुग्रीवहिं कीन्हा।
राम मिलाय राज पद दीन्हा ।16।

tum upakār sugrīvahĩ kīnhā
rām milāya rājapad dīnhā

“You bestowed immense kindness upon Sugriv, uniting him with Lord Ram and securing for him the throne of his rightful kingdom.”

तुम्हरो मन्त्र बिभीषन माना।
लंकेस्वर भये सब जग जाना ।17।

tumharo mantra bibhīshan mānā
laṇkesvar bha-e sab jag jānā

“Through your wise advice (mantra), Vibhishan embraced the path of righteousness and rose to become the King of Lanka, a truth acknowledged by the entire world.”

जुग सहस्र जोजन पर भानू।
लील्यो ताहि मधुर फ़ल जानू ।18।

jug sahasr jojan par bhānū
līlyo tāhi madhur phal jānū

“With unmatched valor, you leaped across the vast expanse of time’s eternal span to reach the blazing sun, playfully devouring it, mistaking it for a luscious, heavenly fruit, unaware of its vastness.”

प्रभु मुद्रिका मेलि मुख माहीं।

जलधि लांघि गए अचरज नाहीं ।19।

prabhu mudrikā meli mukh māhīṅ
jaladhi lāṇghi gaye acharaj nāhīṅ

“With the Lord’s ring secured within your mouth as a token of trust, you effortlessly leaped across the vast ocean – a feat that astounded none, for your boundless strength and devotion make the impossible seem natural.”

दुर्गम काज जगत के जेते।
सुगम अनुग्रह तुम्हरे तेते ।20।

durgam kāj jagat ke jete
sugam anugrah tumhare tete

“All the insurmountable challenges of the world are rendered effortlessly achievable by your boundless grace, O Hanuman, for your divine blessings transform every obstacle into a pathway of
ease and success.”

राम दुआरे तुम रखवारे।
होत न आज्ञा बिनु पैसारे ।21।

rām duāre tum rakhavāre
hot na ājñā binu paisāre

“You stand as the sacred guardian to Lord Ram’s abode, granting entry to only to those who earn your blessings, ensuring that none may pass without your consent and grace.”

सब सुख लहै तुम्हारी सरना।
तुम रच्छक काहू को डरना ।22।

sab sukh lahai tumhārī saranā
tum rachhak kāhū ko dara nā

“All blessings and joy flow from your sanctuary; as our protector, you shield us from all fear and danger, bringing peace and safety to those who seek your grace.”

आपन तेज सम्हारो आपै।
तीनों लोक हांक तें कांपै ।23।

āpan tej samhārau āpai
tīnõ loka hāṅk tẽ kāṅpai

“Only you, O mighty one, possess the strength to contain your own immense power. With the thunderous roar of your lion-like might, the very fabric of the three worlds—heaven, earth, and the underworld—trembles in awe and reverence, acknowledging the unmatched magnitude of your force.”

भूत पिसाच निकट नहिं आवै।
महाबीर जब नाम सुनावै ।24।

bhūt pisāch nikaṭ nahĩ āvai
mahābīr jab nām sunāvai

“O Mahaveer, when your mighty name is uttered, no ghost or evil spirit dares to come near, for your divine power drives them away, leaving only peace and protection in your wake.”

नासै रोग हरै सब पीरा।
जपत निरंतर हनुमत बीरा ।25।

nāsai rog hare sab pīrā
japat nirantar hanumat bīrā

“O Hanuman, the valiant and powerful one, by continually reciting your sacred name (chanting), all ailments are vanquished and every sorrow is dissolved, for your divine energy brings healing and peace to all who call upon you.”

संकट तें हनुमान छुड़ावै।
मन क्रम वचन ध्यान जो लावै ।26।

saṇkaṭ te hanumān chhuṛāvai
man kram bachan dhyān jo lāvai

“O mighty Hanuman, the remover of all adversities, you dissolve every hardship with your boundless grace. Those who immerse their thoughts, words, actions and meditate upon you with true reverence, you lead them through the darkest of troubles, guiding them to
peace and liberation.”

सब पर राम तपस्वी राजा।
तिन के काज सकल तुम साजा ।27।

sab par rām tapasvī rājā
tin ke kāj sakal tum sājā

“Lord Ram, the king of all, endowed with supreme spiritual power, entrusts you with all tasks, and through your grace, every task that is pursued is adorned with success, and all the efforts are
crowned with fulfilment.”

और मनोरथ जो कोई लावै।
सोइ अमित जीवन फ़ल पावै ।28।

aur manorath jo koī lāvai
soī amit jīvan phal pāvai

“And whoever approaches You with sincere and heartfelt desires shall be blessed with a life filled with eternal joy and fulfilment.”

चारों जुग परताप तुम्हारा।
है परसिद्ध जगत उजियारा ।29।

chārõn jug paratāp tumhārā
hai parasiddh jagat ujiyārā

“Through the endless cycles of time, your glory resplendently shines, spreading far and wide, casting a brilliant light that illuminates the entire world, making it divine.”

साधु सन्त के तुम रखवारे।
असुर निकन्दन राम दुलारे ।30।

sādhu sant ke tum rakhavāre
asur nikandan rām dulāre

“You are the steadfast guardian of the saints and the holy, the vanquisher of demons and the cherished beloved of Lord Ram, whose grace extends to all.”

अष्ट सिद्धि नौ निधि के दाता।
अस बर दीन जानकी माता ।31।

ashṭ siddhi nau nidhi ke dātā
as bar dīn jānakī mātā

“You are the bestower of the eight divine powers and the nine treasures of prosperity, as a divine boon granted to you by Ma Janaki (Sita), the beloved consort of Lord Ram.”

राम रसायन तुम्हरे पासा।
सदा रहो रघुपति के दासा ।32।

rām rasāyan tūmhare pāsā
sadā raho raghupati ke dāsā

“You hold the divine nectar of Lord Ram’s devotion, and by His grace, may you always remain the humble servant of Lord Ram, immersed in His divine essence.”

तुम्हरे भजन राम को पावै।
जनम जनम के दुख बिसरावै ।33।

tumhare bhajan rām ko pāvai
janam janam ke duḥkh bisarāvai

“By chanting your divine names, one can attain the grace of Lord Ram, freeing themselves from the sorrows of countless lifetimes and filling their soul with eternal bliss.”

अन्तकाल रघुबर पुर जाई।
जहाँ जन्म हरि-भक्त कहाई ।34।

antkāl raghubar pur jā-ī
jahāṅ janm hari-bhakt kahā-ī

“At the time of death, the devotee ascends to the divine realm of the Lord Ram. In their next birth, they will be known as a devotee of the Lord Hari (Ram), eternally connected to the divine.”

और देवता चित्त न धरई।
हनुमत सेई सर्ब सुख करई ।35।

aur devatā chitt na dhara-ī
hanumat sei sarb sukh kara-ī

“Let not our hearts be swayed by the worship of other Gods, for it is through the grace of Hanuman, the mighty and divine, that all joy and blessings are bestowed upon us.”

संकट कटै मिटै सब पीरा।
जो सुमिरै हनुमत बलबीरा ।36।

sankaṭ kaṭai miṭai sab pīrā
jo sumirai hanumat bal bīrā

“All troubles and sufferings are removed, and every pain disappears, for those who remember the mighty Lord Hanuman, the powerful and valiant son of the wind. By invoking Hanuman’s name and recalling his strength, one is liberated from all difficulties and sorrows.”

जै जै जै हनुमान गोसाई।
कृपा करहु गुरु देव की नाई ।37।

jai jai jai hanumān gosā-ī
kṛpā karahu guru dev kī nā-ī

“Glories to Lord Hanuman, the Master of all. Please, bestow upon us your divine grace just as a revered Guru showers blessings upon his devoted disciple, guiding them with wisdom, love and peace.”

जो सत बार पाठ कर कोई।
छूटहिं बंदि महा सुख होई ।38।

jo sat bār pāṭh kar koī
chhūṭahi bandi mahā sukh hoī

“Whoever recites this Hanuman Chalisa a hundred times with unwavering devotion, will be freed from all bonds and attain immense happiness, experiencing the ultimate bliss and liberation.”

जो यह पढ़ै हनुमान चालीसा।
होय सिद्धि साखी गौरीसा ।39।

jo yah paṛe hanumān chālīsā
hoy siddhi sākhī gaurīsā

“Whoever recites the Hanuman Chalisa with devotion, will attain spiritual perfection (Siddhi), with Lord Shiva (Gaurisa) himself witnessing and affirming their progress.”

तुलसीदास सदा हरि चेरा।
कीजै नाथ ह्रदय महँ डेरा ।40।

tulasīdās sadā hari cherā
kījai nāth hṛday mahã ḍerā

“Gosvami Tulsidas, the humble and eternal devotee of Lord Hari (Ram), pleads his beloved Master to make his heart the sacred abode, where His divine presence may dwell forever in eternal grace and love.”

॥ दोहा ॥

पवनतनय संकट हरन, मंगल मूरति रुप।
राम लखन सीता सहित, ह्रदय बसहु सुर भूप॥

pavan tanay saṅkaṭ haran, maṅgal mūrati rūp
rām lakhan sītā sahit hṛday basahu sur bhūp

“O Son of the Wind, Hanuman, you are the remover of all troubles and embody the auspicious form of divine grace. Residing in the hearts of Lord Ram, Lakshman, and Sita, may you forever dwell in the hearts of all, as the supreme ruler of the Gods.”
